Going to Bat for Leo"Butch"Jackson

Whether you know him as Butch or Leo or Austin, he has undoubtedly made you laugh until your sides hurt or made you crack a smile when you weren't sure if you wanted to, argued you under the table on religion and politics or argued in your defense, regaled you with baseball stories or captivated you with his knowledge of football; he has indelibly touched all our lives.  As an attorney his enormous capacity for human compassion and innate ability to empathize with anyone, made him a counselor for all who sought his ear and legal advice, no matter their station in life.

Approximately 5 years ago, the telltale signs of Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia  emerged and he was subsequently diagnosed by the Compass Clinic.   He stayed in his home as long as was safely possible and for the last two years has been in a memory care facility.  Due to the costly nature of memory care and medications needed,  his funds were completely exhausted as of January 2018 and he had not yet been approved for Medicaid coverage after nearly a year on the waiting list.  Fortunately, he was recently moved to the next stage of the process:  approval.

While he is moving through this process, it can take a couple of months to finalize the approval for Medicaid.   With nothing but social security to rely on from February 2018 forward, the cost of his care exceeds his income by about $3,500 per month.  His family has put together this campaign in hopes of collecting enough to bridge the gap between the end of January and the eventual approval for Medicaid so that he does not have to move from his familiar surroundings where he currently resides which is crucial to a memory care patient's well-being.  The family plans to donate any excess funds collected over and above his needs to the memory care facility for residents that find themselves in the same situation.

Please help us knock this one out of the park and make it a home run for Leo!
