Hello,
It is our mission to produce the Baton Rouge Improv Festival. This year the festival runs from May 12th to May 16, with workshops during the day and night shows. We have gathered the finest improv performers from the region and the world. We have over 25 Improv groups performing from Baton Rouge and the Region from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Huston TX, London, England, and India! The Festival boasts a diverse group of performers and teachers, some stars from TV and 4 former artistic directors from Improv stronger-holds like Second City and Impro Theatre. Many of the performing artists have had a hard year unable to work in their chosen profession. We believe that artists should be paid for bringing healing, laughter, and joy. If we can reach our fundraising goal, then we can do that and keep the festival shows free for everyone. This festival would be our gift and your gift to the people of Baton Rouge and the world. The majority of the festival is going to be online and produced and the highest level possible. Part of our mission is to positively change the culture of improv to make it more inclusive and safe for all. Money raised will also give scholarships to disenfranchised members of our community for workshops and keep workshops inexpensive for everyone else. Because we believe that everyone who desires to learn the powerful and transferal skills that come with Improv should have a chance to.
BRIF committee and board are made up of a group of improvisers and educators we are working with: Baton Rouge Public Library, Visit Baton Rouge, LSU School of Theatre, Art Counsel of Baton Rouge, and many more organizations. This is going to be an amazing improv festival. Give what you can, maybe the price of a show or what you think you would pay a performer or a whole group to bring joy to the world. So we don't have to charge for tickets; help us give the Baton Rouge Improv Festival to the world! During these difficult times, it just seems like the right thing to do.
