Bassick Drama Club

I am a 10th grade English teacher at Bassick High School in Bridgeport, CT which is in a low-income, high poverty district.  My diverse students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds, they are all on free school meals and many of them cannot afford book bags or essential school supplies.
There hasn't been a Drama Club at Bassick for many years, as the severe budget cuts do not allow for such enriching after-school programs.  I am currently volunteer-teaching the Drama Club, which is rapidly growing in numbers and talent.  We have an opportunity to perform at the Klein Auditorium on Martin Luther King Day in a full-scale production for the public.  This is a chance for my students to shine, but after January 16th, we will need money for playscripts, props, costumes, lighting, sound, and additional technical support that is required for upcoming productions.

Thank you for contributing to our Drama Club fund.  We are so grateful for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the performing arts. It will be transformational for our students, who will be able to exercise their unique imaginative powers. Without your generosity, our students would not be able to share their talents and explore their creative expression.
