Running in memory of Tom, Lucy and Izzy

On October 6th, a team of 35 brave and brilliant Bassaleg staff will be taking on the challenge that is the half marathon in Cardiff; some experienced runners, others doing this having only just taken up running - whatever our skill level, what unites us all is why we are running and it’s to do something special to remember two very special pupils who we tragically lost within less than a year of each other in their GCSE year.

Tom, who tragically committed suicide and Lucy, who very suddenly lost her life to Sepsis would have been going into their final year at Bassaleg this year and so it seems fitting that we do this, as a Bassaleg family to remember just how special they still are to us and to also raise awareness of two incredible charities: The Lucy Ellis Foundation and the Jacob Abraham Foundation. With your support, we can raise awareness of mental health, suicide and the dangers of sepsis.

We will also be thinking about our beautiful Izzy, who lost her battle to cancer very recently and who would have also been part of this very special year group.
