Bass in Memory of Draylen Mason

Draylen Mason was a 17 year old victim of domestic terrorism who lost his life when a package bomb detonated in his home. He was also a brilliant bass player. 

After Draylen's death I tweeted that I would like to purchase a bass in memory of him. I was quickly put in touch with his mentor who connected me to the Austin Youth Orchestra where Draylen was a member.  

I can only afford to donate around $1500 but for a top quality instrument they can run up to $3500 (see info below) 

If anyone wants to contribute to this fund I would greatly appreciate it. Let's keep the music playing!

From the Austin Youth Orchestra: If possible we are hoping to present the bass to the AYO program at the May 6 concert.

I have checked into prices and in speaking in speaking with the board, see the most meaningful way of honoring Draylen  is to secure a bass that will perpetually be used by a bassist in the  AYO  HS Symphony.

We can have a small inscribed plaque actually attached to the back of the instrument: This bass donated to the Austin Youth Orchestra to honor the memory of Draylen Mason 2000-2018.

In pricing the instruments the lowest priced higher quality bass is in the range of $3500.

Let me know what you think about this price range and your willingness to continue with this venture.

The instruments range from $1500 upwards however a bass in the $3500 price range would surpass anything most of the HS students are using and could greatly benefit a deserving and talented student such as Dralyen.
