Basketball Hoops for The People's Church

My son and I have had the honor of meeting the one and only, former Syracuse University basketball star, Billy Edelin.  Although his collegiate career is over, Mr. Edelin is now giving back to the game by training many boys and girls from all over CNY the game he loves. My son is proud to call him Coach. He looks at these kids as his own. He wants these kids to achieve their goals, plus more. His passion as moved me so much in just the short time I have known him.

Since colder weather has come around, he has moved practices and training indoors to  "The People's Church" on Salina Street in Syracuse, NY.  Although we did not one person when we first showed up, we were welcomed with open arms. This community is so warm and now we are one big family.

The basketball court and hoops aren't ones you would see in our local schools , or even close. They are held together with plywood. Does that matter to these kids? No way, as long as they are able to play and learn the sport they love.

This week, the backboards broke. I knew this day would come. Billy is going out of his way to buy new hoops out of his own pocket so these kids can get back out there and play! I am hoping to raise money to help Billy and the kids receive the basketball hoops they deserve! We would appreciate any amount of money you can donate.

At this moment in time, basketball is the one thing these kids look forward to every day. Let’s help keep their dreams alive!

Thank you,
