To some, we are teachers, mentors, influencers, inspirers, leaders, and inventors amongst other things. For most, we wish to be divine only to fall short and realize we are nothing more than human; we are merely men and women who find triumph and despair in our experiences. We never know what is going on in someone’s life until you walk in their shoes; shoes that grew from adolescence to adulthood. If asked “What do you know about Kornelius Bascombe?”, most people would say that he is a comedian of a sort. You rarely ever see him in a mood other than excited and eager. He’s someone that hopes to make something of himself in order to pay it forward and help others looking to accomplish their own dreams. Korn (as we know him by) will stop at nothing to ensure that if an opportunity is available, he is taking time out to provide you or anyone else with a chance at that opportunity, whether it be career based, personal or any other aspect of life. He is a loving, caring and extremely family oriented man that will not stop short to make sure that his friends and family are taken care of. But even the people we call superhero’s find themselves in need of saving..

As of May 2017, Korn was faced with the unforeseen issue of having to care for his mother and grandmother and is taking on the task on his own. His mother, Earlyne Bascombe, was feeling pain in her chest and visited the emergency room to find that she had a torn aorta (main heart valve) and required immediate surgery. A few days after surgery, she suffered from a stroke causing her to experience dementia-like symptoms and lose mobility in part of her body. Immediately following this situation, doctor’s discovered that his grandmother, Addie Collette, was experiencing bleeding on the brain and began to suffer from dementia as well. By updates provided from Duke Hospital and Wake Medical Hospital, both his grandmother and mother will require 24/7 care. Being 3000 miles away, Korn has made the decision to put his career on hold to care for his family in Raleigh, NC and has unfortunately had to put his wedding plans on hold as well. Already exhausting his savings through the monetary support and constant travel from coast to coast, Korn is diligently seeking ways to provide a means to support his family.

To make the situation more complex, Korn’s mother provided living and care for his 2 nephews and niece as well as cared for his grandmother all while working. Korn has taken the responsibility of acting as the primary caretaker for his family. There's a strong possibility that the children may be relocating to Los Angeles to live with him and his fiance. As you all can probably imagine, the amount of money needed to help cover medical expenses for 2 adults in rehab as well as provide, housing, food, transportation and schooling for 3 children can be extreme even for the most organized families. I am writing this letter on behalf of Korn because we all know that pride can get the best of us even in the toughest situations. I am pleading that, for the sake of his family, we can find a way to support him in his time of need. Even if you are unable to support, please find it in you to share this in hopes that the generosity Korn provides can be willfully returned. I thank you all for taking time out to read this and hope that you can find it in you to help in any way.
