UPDATE: 05/09/2025

$545 Raised. Only $155 To Go.

Just wanted to re-thank everyone who's contributed to this fundraiser thus

far.

Just got my last paycheck from the Kindler today. 100% went to car fuel, car insurance, and car loan. Thank God for food stamps.

But, since I have a whopping $2 in my Savings account, I thought I'd revisit this fundraiser thing. $155 isn't really all that much, so whether or not that money is raised, I still feel significantly accomplished. Go Team!

Thanks again!

Alex B

UPDATE: 02/18/2025

$495 RAISED. $205 TO GO.

Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to my financial stability thus far.

As some of you know, my employment with Jackson Hewitt ended prematurely, on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025, due to what my employer might term as “insubordination”, but what I would term as having decent values and standards. Thus, I am left to survive off of my tax refund until further employment is secured, the process of which I have already undertaken.

This being said, there are still $195 left to donate to my fundraiser, the receipt of which I would be extremely grateful. I am in the process of trying to secure an EFIN (Electronic Filer Identification Number), which is essentially necessary these days in order to practice solo paid tax preparation. However, this process can take up to 45 days to complete, according to the IRS. Therefore, any intermittent contributions would be greatly appreciated.

I also recently applied for food stamps, but as of this writing, that application, too, is still in process.

Thank you in advance for any contributions you are able to make! If you would like to give directly, please privately message me.

Thanks again to everyone! Can't believe “FABULOUS Taxes” is finally becoming “a thing”!

Graciously,

Alex Bartlett

UPDATE: 01/08/2025

$445 RAISED. $255 TO GO.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has contributed thus far!

Several of my goals have been accomplished, including:

1. Paid back old landlord. ($200)

2. Paid December Rent. ($200)

3. Paid back loan from friend. ($200)

4. Made first credit card payment in 4 years. ($85)

5. Bought Christmas gifts. ($350)

Roughly 80% of that spending would NOT have been possible without the contributions made to this fundraiser! So THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

If you have NOT donated and would like to, please do so! I still have some expenses (primarily rent, car insurance, and credit card payments) that need to be taken care of, so your funds will be put to good use!

Again, thank you to everyone who made my holiday gift-giving and debt repayment possible this year. Let's make 2025 a good one! Alex B

FUNDRAISER SUMMARY:

Hey all.

Those of you who know me personally know I wouldn't be asking for help if I wasn't truly in financial crisis. I feel I can safely say I've gotten to that point, so if you care to hear about HOW I got to this point, read on.

My name is Alex Bartlett and I am a 33-year-old Wisconsin native living in Nebraska. I have some college education... as well as a drug-related felony, among other crimes on my criminal record. Despite rehabilitation, the fact that these charges remain on my record have made it extremely difficult to secure regular employment during 2023 and 2024. As of December 2024, I have gone 7 months without regular employment. That is not to say I haven't been pursuing regular employment, as well as pursuing unemployment benefits from the State of Nebraska; unfortunately, all of my efforts so far seem to be in vain.

My bills are simple and small, but I still am unable to pay them. I have the True Blessing of starting seasonal, full-time work beginning on December 12th, 2024. However, even once I begin, what I get paid will not cover debts incurred in November 2024 or my bills for the first half of December 2024, let alone any hopes of Christmas shopping for my sibling, cousins, niece, nephew, and the rest of my family.

My family has all been so supportive of me in my recovery journey, that it would really mean a lot to me to be able to give back some of what they've given me this Christmas. My dad has helped with my phone bill, as well as the occasional car insurance or rent bill, for longer than I'd like to admit, and it's no fault of his that I can't pay these bills myself. My roommate fronted me a month of car insurance as well as a month's rent. In addition, I owe my old landlord $200.

I am humbly asking for a fundraising goal of $700 – this would cover the money I owe my landlord, my roommate, and if I'm lucky, would give me a little leftovers to purchase Christmas gifts with. I would be eternally grateful to anyone who was able to contribute.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have ANY questions.

Have a great day!
