Barry's Liver Transplantation

In June of 2019 our oldest brother Barry became gravely ill and was hospitalized on two separate occasions, ultimately being discharged with a diagnosis of end stage liver disease. He was given a 50% chance of surviving longer than two years unless he received a new liver. Fast forward one year and Barry was able to begin the lengthy process of solidifying a spot on the liver transplant registry. At the same time, Barry’s sister Julia began preliminary testing to see if she would be a viable match as a living liver donor. This past week, both Julia and Barry were cleared for liver donation and transplant surgery. The procedure will occur on October 27, 2020 at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center in Richmond, VA. This GoFundMe was organized by Barry’s family to help raise funds which will grant Barry the ability to focus entirely on his lengthy 3 + month recovery away from his home in Richmond. Any and all donations will go towards basic necessities (i.e. rent, food, travel and medical expenses) as Barry begins his new lease on life.
