Barry Bernstein Parks and Recreation Scholarship

Barry had a passion for impacting youth whether it was coaching, hosting neighborhood friends or speaking at university parks and recreation classes. He would always look for the kids who needed help and do what he could for them. Food, money, jobs, a sturdy shoulder or guidance were things he provided routinely for those in need.

Barry was a leader in the field of parks and recreation. Not only did he serve his communities with passion but continually worked to improve the lives of those he served – especially students.

As a tribute to Barry’s contributions to the field of parks and recreation, a scholarship will be developed under his name through the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Foundation . The scholarships are awarded at the annual banquet to students going to college in the Parks and Recreation field.

I believe Barry would be honored to know that young adults are being supported in a profession he loved deeply. Any contribution and assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.
