Nous avons fait notre possible dans les circonstances; il ne souffre plus maintenant. Il a pu avoir plein de gâteries et profiter pleinement des petits plaisirs de la vie avant son départ éternel. Les fonds amassés nous auront aidé à absorber une partie des sommes déjà déboursées pour ses soins ainsi que pour ses médicaments lorsqu'il était parmi nous.

<div>J'ai dû être hospitalisé d'urgence le dimanche 19 juin 2022, après des épisodes de crises épileptiques en continu. Mes crises incessantes ont entraîné une pneumonie par aspiration. J’ai dû être intubé pour passer au travers de cette complication. Une fois mon état stabilisé, j’ai passé des tests en plus d’être examiné par une neurologue et une radiologiste.

<div>C’est alors qu’on m'a appris la mauvaise nouvelle le mercredi 22 juin 2022: j'ai une tumeur au cerveau qui crée également de l'inflammation autour de la zone affectée.

<div>Ma famille d'humains a déjà déboursé près de 10 000$ pour les soins vétérinaires d'urgence, les consultations et les radiologies, l'hospitalisation des derniers jours avant que j'aie pu rentrer à la maison.

<div>Ce qui peut m'aider à m'en sortir: chirurgie pour retirer la tumeur (bien placée, donc avec un bon taux de réussite) et médication continue. Ces interventions me permettraient de regagner quelques années et me rapprocher de mon espérance de vie habituelle.

<div>Le compteur tourne cela dit. Il me reste environ 6 à 9 mois de vie si je ne suis pas traité pour ma tumeur. Cela nous donne du temps, mais il faut que les fonds soient amassés dès que possible pour éviter de repousser au maximum la chirurgie.

<div>Les frais pour me traiter ne sont pas couverts par aucune assurance (contrairement à ma famille humaine). Il me faut environ 14 000 $ pour pouvoir passer à l'action avec mes traitements.

<div><strong>UPDATE November 3, 2022:</strong> Our little Barney became an angel on November 2, 2022... :( Thanks to everyone who contributed to help us trying to save him. We all did the best we could under the circumstances. It brings solace knowing he suffers no more. Also, we gave him many treats and beloved food so he could live his best life before his farewell. The funds raised during this campaign have been used for his various veterinarian hospital services and medications that gave him the extra mile this year since the brain tumor diagnosis.

<div>I had to be rushed to the emergency room on Sunday, June 19, 2022. This was due to my harsh and continuous epileptic episodes. In intensive care, I developed aspiration pneumonia due to complications from my relentless crisis.

<div>Once I was calm enough to meet a neurologist and a radiologist, I had some terrible news. On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which is also responsible for inflammation around it.

<div>My human family has already spent 10,000$CAD for all kinds of emergency veterinary care, examinations, radio scan and my time at the hospital during the past few days before I was granted my leave and I was able to come back home.

<div>Time is of the essence. Past a certain point (6 to 9 months approximately), without treatments, I’ll have to settle for comfort end of life medication to regulate and diminish the pain.

<div>The necessary fees to treat me are not covered by any medical care plan (unlike my fellow humans). I need to raise roughly 14 000$CAD if I want to get a chance to live longer with the correct treatments and procedures.
