The Barnabas Legacy Children's Dream Foundation (BLCDF) is a legally registered Ugandan Not for Profit Organisation.
BLCDF is a Christian Child Care Ministry that looks after 250+ vulnerable, orphaned, and needy children in Katunda Village, Jinja, Kampala, Uganda.
The Foundation was founded in 2013 by Pastor Steven Wamala and a team from Katunda Pentecostal AOG, Buikwe District, located in Katunda Village.
The purpose of BLCDF is to share Christ with the children, and while in the Foundation’s care, to mould them into biblically and academically educated members of our future society and to champion them in the dream God has put in their heart.
The ONE who created the STARS, who calls them all by NAME (Isaiah 40:26); so too the children of BLCDF, the Lord knows each by name. Every child is so precious in the sight of the Lord. Every child created by the Father with a DREAM in their heart. Every child a ‘STAR’ in the eyes of the Lord.
BLCDF’s Leadership Team are passionate Child Protection Advocates who seek to champion Children’s Rights. Along with caring for the children, they are also involved in running community workshops for parents and carers, education campaigns (for example ‘Ending Child Violence’), and other advocacy work.
Most of the children under BLCDF’s care have been discarded, abused, unwanted, or orphaned, although some of the children have simply come out of a situation where a parent just needed help. The Foundation’s Fund seeks to support as many of these children as possible and has a number of Projects to which Supporters can choose to donate to.
A child’s academic development is absolutely important. Education is key to unlocking the potential of each of the children. One of the greatest needs of the Foundation is to financially support the educational development of the children. Hence our desire to build our own community school, starting first with purchasing a block of land for our first campus; this will cost $6000AU.
There are three school terms in the Ugandan academic year. The cost for each child for school fees is $90AU per term. Children don’t learn for free. The school/s will keep demanding and carrying balances forward; this can become very stressful on the child and the consequence is that many drop out and/or perform poorly.
In 2020 and 2021 the schools have been closed for periods of time due to COVID19 restriction measures. During this time the children have received some educational packs and had some tutoring given to them by those involved on the ground with BLCDF; which has been a huge, but very worthwhile, undertaking.
The purpose of this GO FUND ME campaign is to raise $6000AU to purchase a block of land now that we can start to build the Community School on in preparation for a full school year in 2022.
Thank you DONORS for your generous donations and your heart of care and kindness. The Foundation is committed to championing the lives of the children under its care and seeing the DREAMS of the children come to fruition.
