Barn Dance In Aid of The Irish Kidney Association

I'm raising money in aid of the Irish Kidney Association CLG; every donation will help. Thank you in advance for contributing to this cause, which means so much to me.

In 2014, Liam was diagnosed with chronic kidney reflux, resulting in only one functioning kidney at 15%. Liam's quality of life deteriorated as he fought this disease. This led to Liam receiving dialysis 8 hours a day, three days a week. During this time, Liam's family volunteered to be tested for compatibility to save Liam's life. Fortunately, Liam's older brother James was a match.

In October 2017, after a long journey, both brothers attended Beaumont Hospital to undergo a significant surgery- KIDNEY TRANSPLANT. Although this surgery was a success, there was always a possibility that Liam's body could reject the transplant. During this time, the Irish Kidney Association supported the entire family to ensure they were close by providing free on-site accommodation. This was pivotal in supporting our family through the surgery's worry, stress and financial strain.

Five years on, our family wishes to show our appreciation to the Irish Kidney Association through a fundraising event to raise much-needed costs to support many other families in a similar situation. We are so thankful that we can share our positive story; however, it may not be the same for many others.

We have organized an in-person Barn Dance Fundraiser in The Beautiful Bird, Lawrencetown, Ballinasloe, on the 1st of October 2022. This Gofundme page is for those who may not be in a position to attend the night but would still like to contribute to the cause.

All funds raised will allow the Irish Kidney Association to continue supporting families experiencing Renal Failure and ensuring the individuals and families are given the respect, dignity and support that our family has received.
