Over time diabetes will destroy your main system functions (things like liver, kidney, pancreas, nerve and eyes) — and if that doesn’t get you - a lot of patients end up with heart attack or stroke.
Even as we speak I have started to have nerve damage in my hands and legs which makes it very hard to even play a guitar on the weekends. Other things like brain fog have made it hard to learn music and other symptoms have kept me from work and other activities.
Recently I have been working with a Bariatric surgeon to gain clearance for a sleeve gastrectomy. This surgery will remove 90% of my stomach and severely limit my food intake for the rest of my life. Sounds fun huh? The reason I am doing this is because patients who have the surgery have a good chance to put diabetes into remission. I’ll be trading the ability to eat whatever I want to extend my life a little longer.
So with a lot of prayer and thought — and about 15 clearances from all kinds of doctors — I am approved for surgery. Trick is — the surgery has to go down very quick from the clearance date — which was yesterday afternoon — which means I will have surgery next Friday (December 27).
Heres how you can help:
My insurance does not cover the cost of the procedure and I have to pay for it up front. So I am linking to go Fund Me where you can donate to help. Let all of your billionaire friends know! 9 days to reach $14,000 — and that number doesn’t even include all the money I have to pay for the clearances and post-operative care — this is just to have the surgery. And the surgery can’t be done without the money.
I just want to thank all of those who have been standing with me this whole time - you guys know who you are — and I love you very much.
Take care everyone!
