Bard Of Mars At "La Ville Rose"

I have been given an extraordinary opportunity to deliver a reading of my science poetry to an audience of 5,000 authors, scientists and scholars.  Here is a brief third person biography:
Chosen for special recognition by NASA’s MAVEN team, as well as public internet vote, James Ph. Kotsybar's haiku was launched into Martian orbit, making him the first poet to be published to another planet , or the BARD OF MARS, as  he titled his first full volume of science poetry.  Aside from his haiku currently in Martian orbit, his work appears in the mission log of The Hubble Space Telescope, and was featured at NASA’s Centaur Art Challenge at IngenuityFest, Ohio.  Most recently he has had poems published in The Bubble, Askew, The Society of Classical Poets, LUMMOX Press, Sixfold, Mason’s Road, Encore, Poeming Pigeon and Scifaikuest, and has received honors from The State Poetry Society of Michigan and the Balticon 48 Poetry Competition.  He especially enjoys science poetry, because of the extended shelf life of its themes.

I work to re-popularize poetry by taking it to surprising live and on-air venues.  A regular guest on KCSB radio and three public access television channels in Santa Barbara County, I developed a poetry lovers fanbase.  Performing at L.A.’s Llhasa Club as “Versonics: The Verse That Can Happen,” I got people up and dancing to the spoken word.  I gave a debut recital to a 196-line narrative poem, from memory,  with costumed actors, at the Los Angeles Performing Arts Center.  I started a project with the Lompoc Library called R.A.I.L. (Readers And Interested Listeners), which later become part of the Santa Barbara Poetry Festival and featured international poets.
I am currently working to publish my book of science poetry.  Upon consideration of my submitted manuscript,  Mr. Laurent Chaminade  of Imperial College Press graciously recommended I receive an invitation to read at the EUROSCIENCE OPEN FORUM this year in Toulouse, France ("La Ville Rose").
Though the conference is paid for, the travel and lodging is not.
My own sister asked me why anyone would want to donate to my campaign, when there are so many other worthy causes, but, to me, this represents real success in my destined career.  This opportunity for recognition of my craft and mission in life means the world to me.  Addressing the “Science Meets Poetry” conference and delivering my already scheduled (but, as yet, unconfirmed) half hour reading would fulfill a rapturous poetic dream  to seriously convey to both the scientific community and the literati  that the sciences and humanities enhance as well as inform each other.  It would help me reach an audience not typically associated with poetry.  It would also provide tremendous validation of my art.

If you believe that science and poetry are not mutually exclusive, and that poetry deserves a scientific venue, please help me get to this conference in Toulouse on July 12th, 2018, and help to launch the genre of SCIENCE POETRY.

From Professor Sara Seager's foreword:
"In its many forms, art can help to draw out the hidden aesthetics of astronomy while at the same time communicating fun, excitement, and even the nonsensicalness of some troublesome puzzles in the cosmos.
"Bard of Mars is a poetry collection that spans a tremendous array of astronomical topics, including the multiverse, the expanding Universe, galaxy collisions, light travel time, the Milky Way, hidden dimensions, black holes, dark matter, dark energy, stars, planets, asteroids, particle physics, symmetry and more. The poems are factual and flow logically, yet joyfully convey the fascinating, intricate threads between and among the cornucopia of objects in our Universe.
"Some poems are humorous, showing a lighter side of astronomy. Others tell a more detailed story about a complicated concept or a case of misconceptions and misunderstandings. What I like best about Bard of Mars is how the poems artfully embrace the craziness of what is out there — the oftentimes jumbled and incongruous theories of space that astronomers and physicists have proposed."

You can add value and reward to the career of a lifelong, self identified poet, who has written poetry like a job for fifty years along with his actual job (never truly seeking profit, but always hoping for such profound acclaim as this professional acknowledgment would bestow).  I hope you will donate to allow me this trip in July 2018.
