Barbie Rodriguez's Fight vs. ALS

Donation protected

We are raising money to help support Barbie and her family fight against this terrible disease called ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease. We need your prayers and your help.

What is ALS?
www.alsa.gov

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.  When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

Barbie's symtons started after a fall that she had in Cooperstown, NY in June 2013.  She had a broken foot and hand. Barbie started therapy but didn't get better from her injuries.  The doctor started to run several tests to see why she was not getting better.  After almost a year of testing, the doctor couldn't find a reason why her health was slowly failing.  The doctor had one more test he wanted to run on her muscles. After that test was run, he sat us down and said that she could have ALS. In September of 2014, Barbie was fully diagnosed with ALS.  And so now we are in the biggest fight we have ever been in to keep her healthy. And medical bills will mount.  She recently stopped working in March 2015.  We are reaching out to whoever can help.

Thank you for your help  and all the prayers.
