Choosing a Charity to donate to is no easy task. Allow me to explain one of the many reasons we are an amazing foundation. Far too many children within our community are struggling with literacy. Between the impact of NTI ( none traditional instruction) within our schools due to Covid 19, and the new normal of AutoCorrect, many children are falling behind with reading.

While it might seem simple, one on one reading time is critical to a child's improvement in reading. While the child sits in a barber chair many things can be going through their head. One way we like to make positive on level conversation is to allow every child to grab a book from our on-hand library. They are then encouraged to read the book aloud with their barber. The barber will take the time to help sound out and pronounce words they may be struggling with. Not only are they receiving one on one attention, but They are also building conversation skills, literacy skills and social skills. With the constant rising in the virtual world, the small things we do to help children with their skills daily are HUGE.

The child is then gifted the book to take home with pride.

Raising children myself I can personally attest to all of the struggles reading and social interactions have posed. I am eager to get involved and help children who may be struggling to find their literacy and voice in this world.

After all, they are our future leaders.
