I am the director of a food pantry. One on my long time committed volunteers lost her mother, Alberta Dennis Hertzler to a long battle with aging related health issues and dementia.
Barbara’s mother, Alberta had a life insurance policy that left funds to short by 3600 dollars for the funeral.
At the present time, Barbara is desperately coming up on dead ends to meet the cost to honor her mother with a funeral and burial.
Barbara has been such a kind woman and good support to me and our volunteers. She is an exceptionally sweet and generous woman. Barbara has dedicated that last yer and a half of her life to committted and regular volunteer work with Saint Katharine Drexel Food Pantry and Clothing cupboard, working to feed and cloth her struggling neighbors.
That is the kind of woman Barbara is. I have been blessed to know her and learn from her wisdom, strength, and unconditional kindness. Barbara always tells me: "A smile does not even cost a penny."
In the video I will share, I had the pleasure of meeting Alberta on a good day while she and her daughter Barbara joyfully invited me and Belle into thier
chester City home and tried to teach Belle double dutch after giving my Belly button a jump rope. Belle left with tickles and hugs from Miss Alberta. I was blessed to meet Barbara's mother in her last weeks.
These are women of faith who have excercised the goodness and values, and hope that shine light in a city that needs more people like this. I can only hope to demonstrate the character and strength of this Mother and daughter to help make things better. Barbar has been a blessing to me and the men, women, and chuldren, I have watched Barbara cloth and give warn shoes too. She helps me make lives better in Chester.
After caring for her mother through this long scary and emotionally draining struggle, Barbara she is left with the finacial burden of the funeral burial costs, she simply cannot meet. Even after reaching out to family and freiends. I pray people will give what they can to help fund a funeral service to say goodbye, and gain closure in her grief with a dignified funeral service in memory of her wonderful mother.
