Barbara Lazaro's Family

Tragedy has struck our beloved Silver Creek Community. Barbara Lazaro was an employee at Silver Creek Valley Country Club and was taken from us too soon.

January 7th 2018 is a day I will never forget. The day was as normal as could be at Silver Creek Valley Country Club. It was now 2pm and in enters Barbara with a huge contagious smile. Barbara was always smiling and laughing. She would always say "Becky, I got you! Don't worry!" As we are exchanging stories of what went on during the weekend, I asked "Are you going to the holiday party tonight?" She replies "I want to, I'm planning to, It's my birthday." Sal and I gathered around and wished her a Happy Birthday. She said "I've been a really good girl this year so I'm not sure what my family has planned." Tragically, Barbara never made it home from work that day. She was in a horrific car accident on Silver Creek Valley Road and passed away that evening. The Country Club was a better place because she was there. Her Christmas card to me said "Thank you for taking a chance on me!" I remember thinking there was no chance, you are an amazing person with many skills and talents. ~ written by her supervisor, Becky Manalaysay.

While Barbara was only employed at the Club for a few months, she made a large impact on everyone that encountered her smile and infectious laugh. Our hearts are broken and we are filled with sadness at this unexpected and unnecessary tragedy. It pains us to think of what her family is going through during this hardship. Barbara leaves behind a family she constantly spoke of, including a nephew who she helped care for. May she rest in peace.

We are hoping that the community can come together and help Barbara's family out during this devastating time. No amount is too little. Let's show Barbara's family that others are thinking of them, caring about them, and wishing them comfort and peace.
