Barb "Granny" Casta Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Lucky to be alive, on 2/21/2018, my beautiful, hardworking, mother-to-all, amazing 79 year old grandmother Barbara Casta was in a horrible car accident between Georgetown and Seaford, DE, on her way home from work. She was airlifted to a level 1 trauma center about an hour and a half from her home with severe injuries and is currently in the ICU. She had blood transfusions due to blood loss, spleen removal, repair to small intestines and colon, as well as a temporary set of her ankle in a halo - as it is a compound fracture (meaning the broken bones came through the skin). She is scheduled to have a permanent ankle repair in a few days. She has 11 broken ribs, a lot of facial bruising and many other smaller injuries. Incredibly, she in high spirits and reassured family visitors that she will not let this get her down. She is an amazingly strong and resilient woman. I mean, she's 79 and she is still working even after having open heart surgery! That being said, it will be a long road to recovery (even though she keeps telling everyone she'll be back to work in a week!) . Denied short term disability through Aflack because *gasp* she is working at 79, she will need help paying her monthly bills, medical costs, hotels/meals/gas money for family to visit and stay by her side, etc... It is undetermined how much longer she will be in the ICU, but for now, only 2 visitors are allowed for 15 minutes every 3 hours. As her granddaughter, I am feeling quite helpless seeing as I live in Wisconsin; however, it is reassuring to know that my aunts, uncle and cousins that live nearby were able to rush to her side and continue to give her support and updates for us all. It wouldn't help to jump in a car, or get a flight out with her limited visitor schedule. A Gofundme campaign is something I can do. No one in her situation should have to worry about money. Please send good thoughts, prayers her way♡ Please also share this campaign and donate what you can, as no donation is too small:) I will continue to update and share information as it comes. I posted a pic of the cars. My grandma was driving the white one. We do not know how the two occupants of the Jeep are doing, but one was airlifted to the same trauma center while the other went to a local hospital. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well ♡ We are just all so happy she is alive!!!
