Catholic Radio Upgrade
Tax deductible
Are you looking for a way to be involved in the New Evangelization called for by Pope St. John Paul II?
Baraga Broadcasting Radio Network is a 501(c)3 non-profit Catholic radio ministry that owns and operates radio stations across northern Michigan, broadcasting Catholic programming 24-hours a day, 365 days per year. Baraga Broadcasting began in the Diocese of Gaylord in 2006, and has now grown into a network of 6 stations that reaches from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron and north to Sault Saint Marie in the Upper Peninsula into the Diocese of Marquette. We are 100% listener-supported, receiving no federal or diocesan funds.
Baraga?
Baraga Broadcasting proudly bears the name of Ven. Frederic Baraga, the first Bishop of Marquette, who was known for ministering to the people via canoe, snowshoe, horseback, or by whatever means necessary to reach people with the Gospel of Christ. Baraga Broadcasting continues his legacy of evangelization by sharing the message of God’s love and truth over the airwaves throughout northern Michigan, and building up a community of belieivers.
Upgrades
In October 2017, we completed significant upgrades to our station serving the Alpena, MI, area (88.9 FM WGZR), which has allowed us to serve a much wider audience, more efficiently. Especially in our rural Diocese, where many priests are serving more than one parish, covering as much area as possible allows us to reach many who would otherwise have no access to the information and support we offer on-air for their faith journey. While this upgrade came at a significant price, it was a worthwhile investment in the Sunrise Side of Michigan. We are hoping to find people excited about being involved in the New Evangelization in a real, tangible way, through their financial and spiritual support for Catholic radio in our neck of the woods.
