Build A Home for a Family in TJ

Students from The Bishop's School have united under their Build A Miracle Club to build another house for the Cárdenas Jiménez family in Tijuana, Mexico. During storms, their house leaks and can even be swept away by the rain. They don't have plumbing, so they must sponge-bath and use an outhouse. The house, when completed, will offer them a safe and working roof over their head, insulated walls, beautiful furnishing, stucco, and drywall. These new homes change much more than their living situation: the Cárdenas Jiménez family can now live in dignity and pride and thrive in their newfound confidence to help others who used to be in their situation. With this new home also comes a great community of other Build A Miracle home recipients, as Build A Miracle's community centers that offer free classes have transformed and brought the people of El Florido closer together. To receive a home, families must have all of their children in school and also must complete 500 hours of community service working on other homes. Build A Miracle has completed over 285 houses, has 2 community centers, and has given numerous kids scholarships.

It costs $16,000 to build the house: $10,000 for the home, $3,000 for the specialized workers, and $3,000 for furniture.
