Dear Friends,
Many of you know that my affinity for the arts is rooted in a family tradition that has been passed from one generation to another. I grew up in a family where dancing became a special bond for connection and had a great influence in my identity and professional career choice. I would like to share with all of you the story of Ballet Zapukay. Ballet Zapukay, founded in April of 1974, is now led by my mother, María Inés González, and its mission is to promote Argentine tango and folklore amongst children of the town of Garín, which is part of the province of Buenos Aires.Ballet Zapukay is located in an area with low-income families and it offers scholarship opportunities for children in need. Due to lack of funding, the traditional clothing for the children has not been renewed in the past five years.
The work behind the scenes is very challenging in order to expand opportunities to a greater number of children, get clothing items for every child, and fundraise the necessary resources to develop this art. It is important that we get behind the cultural preservation of this beautiful artistic tradition. I fondly ask each one of my friends and everyone interested in supporting the arts and the personal development of children to contribute to this cause. I sincerely thank you in advance for your kind contribution and keep in mind that all help is welcome regardless of the amount.
Warmly,
Martín Almirón
