Hey everyone,
My husband Jimmy Ball had a faulty firework go off on the 4th of July causing major damage to his right hand and parts of his leg.
He was instantly life-flighted to Sacred Heart where they sent him into emergency surgery to try to save his hand.
Unfortunately, they had amputate 3 fingers down to the first knuckle, repair and replace the abductor muscle in is thumb, place wires into his thumb and much more. Multiple bones were broken in his hand as well and his nerves are badly bruised. They aren't sure if he will regain feeling back or be able to save his thumb since it took a good amount of the blow, causing his muscle to literally fall out of his hand. They may amputate it at the upcoming appointment we have planned, but did all they could at the time. Jimmy will have about 4-6 months of physical therapy to try to regain strength in his hand.
His leg suffered the least of the blow but is still missing parts of his right calf and has major bruising on his thigh due to firework debri being in his leg from the blast.
This has set us back a load, due to the now rising medical bills and the time off Jimmy will have to take to hopefully recover the abilities of his hand.
If anyone knows Jimmy, he's a die hard Diesel Mechanic that gives 110% to his job to provide for his family. Since it was his dominant hand, the surgeon told him not to get his hopes up of continuing to be a mechanic. This is heartbreaking to him and our family. We will be doing all we can to make this not a possibility for him, as it is a true passion of his to be working at EZ Rentals.
We appreciate all the love and support we have gained from so many around us.
Our family thanks you in advance for everyone's continued gratitude and support as we tread through this hardship of a time we are in.
