Bailey’s Car Accident Recovery Fund

On September 25th, ten days after her 18th birthday, Bailey Balam was on her way to work before getting into a life-threatening car accident. The accident resulted in her being struck on her driver's side by somebody who ran a red light.
Due to the impact, Bailey broke her neck (C2 Vertebrae) as well as her right ankle. The medical term for a fractured C2 is a Hangman’s Fracture. Most people don’t live to see another day or suffer from paralysis for the rest of their life with an injury like hers. Because of how severe the break in her neck was, surgery couldn’t be done and she has been put in a halo brace that is made up of four pins screwed into her skull attached to a breastplate to keep her head and neck immobile. She will be in this brace for a minimum of 12 weeks waiting for her body to heal itself.
As well as her neck, she broke her ankle and tore ligaments and tendons which needed major surgery that included anchors and screws to be reattached so that it can heal. She also had a very large laceration on her left forearm.
By the grace of God Bailey’s life was spared because if the fracture had been just a millimeter of a difference, she might not be here today. I have had the honor of being a best friend to Bailey and although we have not been friends for very long, I want to make an impact in this part of her life. I am hoping to raise money for Bailey and her family to help with current medical expenses and physical therapy. Bailey is getting better each day with her positive attitude and faith but still has a long road ahead.
