Baileys Renal Failure Surgeries

Donation protected

This is Bailey, she is a 6 month old Lab /mix. Our rescue Pawssible Beginnings Rescue got her at 12 Weeks old with 7 of her Siblings from Tennessee. They were found in a landfill with their mother abandoned. Bailey was the only puppy not adopted the day they came to our rescue, she was one of the smallest puppies but very sweet and docile. She went home with her foster mom to stay until she was adopted. The second day that she had Bailey she noticed Bailey was leaking pee, so we called the vet and got her in right away. They tested Bailey and she came back positive for a bacterial infection. She immediately went on antibiotics for two weeks but the leaking only got worse. She was taken back into the vets and they ran further tests. They told us it could be a possible Ectopic Ureter, but that was rare, or just a strong bacterial infection and to do another month of antibiotics. Hoping for the best we treated the infection again with a stronger antibiotic. After that nothing changed she was still leaking pee and it was getting a strong odor to it. We took her back into the vets and the did and x ray and said she was very gassy and and still had the infection, so she went on special food for the gas and more antibiotics even stronger ones . After a month of that nothing changed so we took her in to have a sonogram and blood tests, and urine test that they had to pull the urine directly from her kidney. That night we got the worst call we could imagine, Bailey did indeed have an Ectopic Ureter, and a non-functioning kidney the size of a raisin, an enlarged kidney, and a resistant Ecoli infection. Her foster mother then researched the disease and educated herself on it and what we could do to help. Bailey immediately went on the strongest antibiotics her little body and kidneys could handle and was put on a special diet that has to be cooked for her regularly to insure she didn't have anymore damage to her one only half functioning kidney. From what we have found she would be able to survive with one kidney as long as it was healthy. The vets did inform us that with this birth defect Bailey is at high risk for renal failure and with only one kidney only half functioning it puts her at higher risk, along with this resistant ecoli infection. So we started to try and heal her. We were on the antibiotics for over a month and then went back to the vet. the infection was gone but her pee had started to smell like burnt hair and ammonia. So again we went to the vets and the amazing vets at Cumberland Valley tested her pee. The infection was finally gone, but something was off. We took her off of the antibiotic for a week and then took her back to the vets for a blood test to see if her levels were back on par to go to the specialist and have the VERY EXPENSIVE surgery to correct her Ectopic Ureter. The other day we received awful news that that her tests were back and it looks like her kidney is starting to fail. We are now planning on going to the specialist to see what we can do next to help her. This baby was dealt a very nasty hand of cards and we intend to try and turn that around and help her live a long normal life, but without donations we can't do that. The vets that we take our rescue dogs to let us pay in instalments. With a specialist you have to pay at the time of service and we don't have the money to do that. So we have to set up a GoFundme to help her survive. She's only lived 6 short months and 3 of that in landfill. Please help us help her live much longer life and hopefully at some point a life outside of a diaper like a normal fur kid should. Thank you so much for reading Baileys story, and thank you in advance for your donations.
