Ashley's Journey

“We must embrace pain and burn it as fuel for our journey.”

The quote above is the quote I choose to start off my message to you all because it is a perfect representation of an amazing, young, smart, taleneted women that i am about to talk about. I mind you this is a little lengthy..

My name is Brittany Novelli. I am making this go-fund me account for my AMAZING best friend Ashley Lawrence.

A few words to describe Ashley would be, that sweet friend with a fiesty side, motherly to her friends, timid and shy at times, someone with a heart of gold, someone who will laugh about everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Ashley is beautiful on the inside and out, she is always happy, giving, and now she is a FIGHTER.

Ashley loves kids. She volunteered at summer rec and eventually became a counselor. She worked at the Red Balloon day care. She just finished her certificate to own and run a daycare and is now working on become a daycare teacher. But, Ashley's dream in life is to be a mother.

The last weekend of May Ashley became very sick. On Monday she went to the hospital and found out there was a tumor in her brain. She was sent from our local hospital to downtown. It was shocking and the worst news anyone could ever hear from someone so young. The text is still haunting "I have a tumor in my brain and will have brain surgery in 2 days". When I went to visit Ashley in the hospital all i could think is, "Ash, there isn't a darn thing wrong with you, you look fine, let this joke be over" but unfortunatley it was not a joke and the following day she had a 5 hour brain surgery. The surgery was on Thursday, I don't kid you, Ashley was home Saturday, TWO days after brain surgery. That is how much of a FIGHTER she is. The day of brain surgery she woke up like nothing ever happened. Her amazing boyfriend kept us in the loop, told us they got the entire thing out and that she may need further treatment. After seeing her I thought oh, she is fine, she will not need more treatment, shes normal, nothing was affected after the surgery, she's fine.

Two weeks later, the diagnosis came. Yes, Ashley was doing amazing, however that tumor was cancerous, otherwise known as "Medulloblastoma or Cerebellar Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor". We couldn't believe it. When she told me I said ok, Ash, what is the plan, where do you go next, all the typical question. Let me mind you I have not seen Ashley shed ONE tear or complain once through this ENTIRE journey so far. She is pure amazement.

Ashley treatment plan:
Ashley is in her second week of rigorous radiation. Her radiation treatments are 45 mins long Monday-Friday for 6 weeks. They have to target her spine as well since this is the main place this tumor could travel. After radition Ashley will have chemo for approx 5 months, right now the plan is once a month.

Why I am here today making this go fund me account is asking anyone who reads this to keep Ashley in their prayers and if they can donate that would be FANTASTIC. As you all are aware insurance only pays for so much, so medical bills start piling up. My goal for Ashley and her family is 5,000 dollars.  I choose 5,000 dollars becuase Ashley's chances of loosing her hair are high and insurance doesn't pay for wigs and she's looking around 2,500 dollars for a wig. The other 2,500 is that "just incase money" that they can grab if Ashley has unexpected appointments and they need to pay for parking or someone needs to take off work.
We are raising money towards the wig to help keep Ashley's confidence right where it is! The wig will help her mentally and emotionally get through this and stay "normal". If something medically comes up it will go right to that need. Ashley is not working, so that "just incase money" would be something she can rely on and know it's there if she gets into a sticky situation. It is for an unknown medical bill that insurance decided to deny paying for. It is for travling from different hospitals/doctors offices. It is for "just incase". I am appreciative of whatever anyone can give, and I know Ashley is more appreciative then anything! Ashley is not on facebook but will be popping in on mine and I will be sending her the thoughts and well wishes. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart taking the time to read this and donating if you can. Ashley is a FIGHTER, and will come out of this on top!

Thank you for your time,

-Brittany
