Bad knee, GReat cause

Please assist children of Greek descent in Reading to receive Greek language education and keep their cultural heritage alive!

 

I’m raising money to support the Greek Orthodox community of Reading, which strives to support the continuation of the Greek and Orthodox heritage and values. To achieve so, the community operates a Greek School, providing Greek language education to GCSE level. The school, which now has over 30 students, operates on the church premises at St. Mark's Anglican church. The community, solely based on donations & the volunteering of its members, aspires to acquire their own premises to be used among others as appropriate space for the activities of the Greek School of our Community. I will compete at Staffordshire’s Ironman 70.3 triathlon race on 12 June 2022. Here’s a brief backstory…

 

I recall myself vividly in a recovery room at Circle Reading hospital on 11 May 2021. It wasn’t the meniscectomy on my left knee, which I had twisted just days earlier, that was hurting – the general anaesthesia hadn’t worn out just yet. It was rather the fact that six months of Ironman 70.3 triathlon race preparation lay shuttered under those sterilised bandages.

I promised myself to get back at it, and compete in the same race in a year’s time. I also knew that I couldn’t do this without a good cause – or in this case, a GReat one!
