Backyard & Beyond

Dear Readers,

I've never done any crowd-funding before and still feel a bit awkward about it. But here goes:

For eight years, my urban natural history blog, Backyard & Beyond, has been a labor of love. 

I now find myself needing to replace my trusty Canon SX50, which has died after five years of hard work. You may have noticed that I've only been taking macro shots with my phone lately. I can't do bird photography at all right now.

So with this appeal, I'd like to offer you the opportunity to help me purchase a new camera.  I'm looking at the Nixon Coolpix P1000, a new superzoom which will be quite an advancement over my late camera. 

The $1500 requested covers the camera, tax, and several years of Wordpress fees for hosting the blog.

I know many of you enjoy my posts as much as I enjoy making them. I hope some of you can translate your pleasure into a contribution towards a quantum leap in imagery. But please know that I value your readership above all else, regardless of your response to this crowd-funding effort!
