Namatogonya Village in the Kayunga District of Uganda, is a Soul Compassionate Outreach Ministries (SCOM) mission to 200 impoverished Ugandan children, many of whom are orphans. Many of these children’s parents are sickly, seriously ill or have died from HIV AIDS complications, malaria, maternal death, or other diseases. Some of the children have been abandoned; for some, family members cannot adequately feed them or afford medical care which can take miles of walking to government hospitals. Children in Uganda often resort to working in stone quarries or collecting plastic bottles to recycle, in order to survive. Education can break the cycle of poverty and is a fundamental right of every child.
Pastor John Kazibwe is the founder and senior minister of SCOM, begun in 2007 to respond to the rising number of children living on the streets and slums in Kampala with no nutritious food, no access to clean water, no education, clothing, Godly life experience, no protection, security or hope. Pastor John is also the minister of Christ Jesus Foundation Church and Vice Chairman of the interdenominational West Kampala Pastors Fellowship. SCOM is a licensed NGO, N0.: S.5864/6410, abides by Uganda’s Alternative Care Framework and The Children’s Act, as well as working with Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, and SAUTI, when appropriate. SCOM collaborates with other Children centers, children’s guardians and administrations, seeking the best interests of each child, addressing areas of individual need, and providing a healthy, secure, and loving environment that will enable them to reach their full emotional, cognitive, social, and moral development. SCOM also integrates older children into educational and vocational institutes. Many of these kids are so talented and they only need someone to help discover their hidden potential! You can be that person with your prayers and donations!
These children began this year's first term the end of January and only $608.48 of the originally budgeted need of $14,983.50 US (see budget below) has been raised. In order for these children to continue attending, we desperately need your help by mid-March! Any donation, no matter how small, makes a huge impact. The heartbeat of SCOM is Reach Out, Rescue, Love and Care. We’re propelled by the Compassionate Spirit of Jesus Christ to seek God’s wisdom, assemble resources, and in so doing, transform lives. In the process, we are all forever changed. 200 children are praying “Go Fund Me”! When you give, God is using you to show them that He is faithful to meet their needs. All donations will be used solely for these purposes.
Original Term Budget: tuition $5883.00, rice & beans (1200kg)$3334.00, scholastic materials $772.60, 400 textbooks $2941.20, 1 head teacher $176.70, 5 teaching staff $669.00, 2 school cooks $177.60, 1 school laptop $441.20, and service expenses $588.20. As the GoFundMe campaign has spread over more than one term, an additional project it is encompassing is the purchase of land SCOM has leased for years and planted hundreds of banana and coffee trees on. It was recently and unexpectedly put up for sale. As the purpose of the farm has always been to increase income, toward making the children's ministry more self-supporting, it aligns with the purpose of the GoFundMe already in place. So a new campaign wasn't begun.
”If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and truth . . .” 1 John 3:17-18.
