Back Jazmyn Martinez's Journey to Varsity Spirit Spectacular

Donation protected
Mineral Wells student Jazmyn Martinez is preparing for her senior year, and to lead the Ram cheerleaders into another great season as their co-captain. But even more than that, she is preparing to head to Disney World to cheer as an All-American.

Jazmyn has been cheering since she was four years old, according to her mother, Rachel who reached out to us about her daughters recent accomplishment. Martinez cheered with the Mineral Wells “PeeWee” football league, now Mineral Wells Youth Sports Association and with Head Over Heels studio, coached by Sara Price and Crystal Waldrum before beginning her journey as a Ram cheerleader for Mineral Wells Junior High, and now MWHS.

Jazmyn currently plans to attend Paul Mitchell Beauty School after graduation, and in the mean time works for City Meats and Market, a new business in downtown Mineral Wells. She also has served at previous cheer camps, helping young ladies learn what it takes to be a Ram cheerleader and encouraging them in many ways, as well as marches in the parades and other events with the rest of the Ram cheer squad.

Martinez attended Universal Cheerleaders Association(UCA) Cheer Camp with her fellow cheerleaders in July and was nominated and selected as an All-American for her cheer skills and leadership. Along with that came an invitation from Varsity Spirit, a cheerleading company that equips cheerleaders with not only uniforms and equipment but skills camps and more. The Memphis-Based brand invites around 800 cheerleaders to take part in the Varsity Spirit Spectacular event, which takes place in late November and showcases some of the best of the best from across the nation and from six different camps and organizations such as UCA, where Jazmyn was selected.

According to the official press release from Varsity Spirit, Jazmyn at the other cheerleaders will get to perform in front of hundreds of people at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and enjoy time with numerous other cheerleaders from all over the nation at the Disney World resort parks aside from performing. Martinez spoke on the opportunity, adding, “I’m super excited to have this opportunity my senior year. I love cheer, I’ve been a cheerleader since I was 4 years old. I thank everyone who has supported my sport of choice all these years!”

Martinez and her mother are asking for the community to come together and support Jazmyn during this time, and one way to do that is to donate to the cost of the event. Donations will cover things like uniform costs, travel, registration, and other expenses. Businesses may also sponsor Jazmyn and the deadline for sponsorships and donations is September 30.
