Back 2 School Give Away by Christene's Foundation

The Little Christene's Foundation was created in 2022 to provide financial assistance to single mothers. Growing up in a single-mother household, education was not a priority; rather, food was, as education in Jamaica is very expensive from kindergarten to high school. As a result, my siblings soon dropped out of school. Determined to get an education, I never owned a textbook in my life and would go to school without money for lunch or transportation. Because of that, I was only able to attend once or twice per month. Despite these challenges, I graduated high school, achieving 16 subjects, including CXC and GCE.

With no change in my financial status, I was determined to go to college and university. I achieved this with the help of bursaries from the school for lunch and transportation and later on a student loan to complete my first degree. Today, I have achieved two undergraduate degrees, one master's, and am currently in my second year of law school. I am also a mom of three kids. I know all too well the value of education and how difficult it is to afford in Jamaica. This is why the foundation was created.

Last year, we provided 121 school bags and school supplies, plus over $100,000 Jamaican dollars in grants for students from the inner-city communities of Kingston. This year, we have over 200 students that we will be providing for in the same manner. The deadline to donate for our 2024 treat is July 15th, 2024.
