Bach Family Irma Recovery

Donation protected

Captain Fred Bach & Family are requesting assistance

On the morning of September 10th at 9AM Hurricane Irma made landfall over portions of the lower Florida keys from Big Pine Key to Cudjoe Key bringing surge up to ten foot and winds of 130mph. Our once bountiful paradise is now a brown, barren wasteland.

Our home stood in the avenues of Big Pine Key and while it did not blow away it did suffer major damage from the storm. We just purchased it four months ago. A tree fell through our roof, crushing a wall and smashing a window. The storm surge in our area made it into the house a couple feet to the point where there is sea grass in our outlets. Our appliances are no longer functional. All our furniture is ruined. Beds. We lost two vehicles that are vital to our livelihood here where a commute is 20-30miles. Our once lucious yard with avocado trees, banana trees, citrus trees, pineapple, oregano, etc is destroyed. There are only two trees left on the property.

We will have to gut the entire home and try to save it. It won't be easy or quick but it must be done to save our slice of paradise. In the meantime we are displaced. We are exploring options for living quarters that will allow us to work on the damaged home. God bless everyone for their kind words and well wishes in this difficult time. We will rebuild it with all of your help. Any little bit means a lot.

Thank you so much,
From Fred Bach, Melissa Bach, Gunnar Bach, and Melinda Sanger.
