Baby Orellana

Last November, our sister and brother-in-law, Jocelyn and Luis Orellana, became pregnant with their very first child. It was the best news our families had received from these two by a long shot, and we couldn’t have been more excited for them. We still remember the day Jocelyn told us they were pregnant, and it was, quite honestly, one of the best moments of 2017 for us; a memory that we will always treasure. We still think back on that moment and smile.

After 4 years of marriage, the struggle and frustration of trying to conceive to no end, the heartbreak of infertility, and the long, emotional and financially draining process of IVF, these two were finally blessed with the baby they’d been praying and hoping for. Unfortunately for all of us though, our elation came to a very sudden and heartbreaking stop this past February when Jocelyn’s water broke in the middle of the night at only 16 weeks and 4 days.

Everything with the IVF transfer had gone perfectly! She had been having a completely normal pregnancy until a few days prior when she started bleeding. Then, as we now know, due to some incredibly rare complications, she delivered our stillborn niece on the morning of February 27, 2018, and we will never forget her beautiful little face.

Her name was Faith - that’s exactly what led to her creation and it is exactly that which keeps both of them going. We may have lost Faith on that day, but her parents and our families continue to have faith that they will get pregnant again and give birth to a full-term healthy baby. And Faith will have paved the way for all of it.

So this is where we need your help. Their IVF journey came, and continues to come, with a very hefty price tag. The both of them had to take out a personal loan in the amount $40,000, which they are still paying off, in order to go through the initial stages of their first IVF cycle. That’s on top of an additional $6,000, which they paid out of their own pockets, to cover what the loan didn’t.

Now, they have finally reached the point in their lives where they are ready to begin a second round of IVF, but just cannot afford to do it on their own. This is why we humbly and kindly reach out to all of our friends, families and communities for assistance.

Their second IVF cycle is estimated to cost $6,700, which medical insurance does not cover. We know that there are many families out there who understand and can relate to even a small part of the struggle that these two have faced, and as such we appreciate any assistance that you can provide. The $6,700 will pay the total cost of the doctor’s fee for transfer of their embryo, the lab fee for the transfer and the medication Jocelyn is required to take for the cycle.

Please help us help them make their most yearned for dream come true.
