As many of you know we have a baby boy joining our family this spring. What many of you don't know is he has a condition called gastroschisis.
 Essentially his intestines are floating around outside of his body and when he is born he will need surgery. There is a good chance everything can go as smoothly as something like this can go but we have been informed by baby surgeons and neonatologists of the many possibilities of complications as well as prolonged recovery, more surgeries and sometimes life long complications.
Even in the best case scenario for this situation our baby will be living in the NICU for months recovering and rehabilitating - learning to eat and have bowel movements. And again that is best case scenario. With this being said we currently live in Cheyenne WY and the nearest hospital that can accommodate this type of condition and recovery is 2 hours away. The baby doctors have informed us that Baby Marshall will have to be pushed to come out earlier than usual and I (his mother) will have to be living full time in Denver weeks before this procedure as I will need daily monitoring due to the possibility of life threatening complications.
Steven and I are opening this platform for anyone who would like to help out. We will essentially be maintaining 2 households for an undetermined amount of months (1 in Cheyenne and 1 in Denver) with the loss of my income temporarily but potentially permanently depending on the level of care Baby Marshall will need after everything is said and done. We will probably have to do a bit of traveling back and forth for a while as well.
I'm also not able to have a baby shower as we pretty much know no one out this way. We have not been able to properly prepare for Baby Marshall as we have no idea what size he will be - when he'll come home - what specific things we will need to accommodate his condition.
We really appreciate all of the love and support we have gotten so far. This news has been difficult to swallow and we are taking the next couple months to do whatever we can to prepare physically and emotionally for what we have been informed to be a bumpy ride. We are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst at this point. Thank you in advance for anything you choose to contribute - Amy & Steve
