Hi! My name is Dana and I'm an actor, director, and writer local to Colorado Springs. I recently completed production on my first feature film BABYLON. Production was completed over the course of eight months and included a total cast of 62, a crew of 30, two wolfdogs, two trained rats, and one boa constrictor.

As you might have guessed by now, this was an ambitious project - one I wasn't sure I could pull off. But through the skillset and dedication of the cast and crew, the top-quality equipment we were blessed to use, and the financial help we received for our pre-production budget, we wrapped.

Speaking of the budget, that's where you come in. We've now raised over three-quarters of our $10,000 goal. The first $6,000 was used in pre-production (makeup, several gallons' worth of fake blood, costumes for all those actors) and production (location fees, additional costume and makeup, food and water for performers and crew members on our longer shoot days...and more fake blood).

We're still in need of raising the rest of this budget for post-production - this will help us afford editing software, pay off rental equipment, save for festival submission costs down the road, and ultimately tell the story in the strongest, most honoring way possible.

Speaking of the story, maybe you'd like to know a little about that too. BABYLON is an ensemble piece and a morality play; an apocalyptic retelling of the book of Daniel that completes as a revenge tragedy. Our story picks up one year after a plague called the Red Death wipes out two-thirds of the American population. Borders and airports have closed, and the country has been left to die by itself. While rumors of an antidote north of the border circulate, sanctuary cities emerge as protection for those who can afford it, and people who hold valuable skillsets are placed in higher and higher demand. A murdered politician's son named Finn crowns himself gatekeeper of a secluded town called Flagship, and it's there that we meet captive brothers Leonidas, Owen and Jonah. As they form relationships with the other prisoners, we face with them questions of masculinity, brotherhood, addiction, grief, and how we hold our humanity in the presence of wolves.

I'm thrilled at the chance to make this film the way it should be made, and I'm thankful for the willingness of those involved to help me do just that. I'd like to invite you to help us make a film that we can be proud of, that you can truly enjoy watching, that's worth the time and effort put in, that can be as beautiful as the truth of the piece itself: that no matter who we are or what's been done to us, no matter if we're cast into the den of lions or the fiery furnace, we are capable of grace, softness, forgiveness, and hope. Thanks for reading. See you at the lighthouse.
