Baby Lela's Trisomy 13 Fight

My sister and her husband, Christa and Eric Sanchez, received devastating news that the precious baby girl she is expecting to deliver in July, tested positive for Trisomy 13. In addition, she has Dandy Walker Syndrome, 2 holes in her heart, and a Cleft lip and palate. Babies diagnosed with Trisomy alone, are not expected to live a year. Many do not live long enough to leave the hospital after birth. There are no words to describe how devastating this has been for them and our entire family. Chris and Eric have been blessed with two incredible boys, Christian - 17 years old, and Adan - 12 years old. When they found out they were pregnant with a little girl, they knew it was a gift from God and our Grandpa in heaven. They named her Lela after our Grandpa’s mother, who passed away at a very young age.
Chris and Eric have relied heavily on their faith so they can be strong for their boys. While praying for a miracle, they are also trying to prepare for the unknown. They are under an inconceivable amount of stress. Christa had to leave her job and home in Lake Havasu to stay in Phoenix to be close to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. She will be living apart from Eric and the boys who will remain in Lake Havasu, working a full time job to earn as much money as possible to help with the loss of Christa’s income, as well as the medical bills and unknown expenses yet to come.
They are not ones to ask for help and yet I know these next couple months they could really use it. First and foremost, we ask for your prayers. We believe God has His hand on their family and we are trusting in His will. Second, if you can find it in your heart to make a donation, I assure you that you are making a difference in a deserving family’s life.
