Baby Givens

Corey, a military brat, was born in New Brunswick, NJ. His family settled in Orange Park, FL, where he graduated high school. Subsequently, Corey graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1998. In 2006, he moved to Hawaii and attended Hawaii Pacific University for post-graduate studies, and met me. My name is Tanya and I was born and raised in Aiea, HI. When Corey and I met, I was a retail store manager and already had 2 sons from a previous marriage. Since, Corey has taken the boys as his own sons and has been an excellent father to them. In 2007, Corey took me to Jitney, a play about relationships, and had the cast call him to the stage after the play, where he proposed to me. We planned and reserved the date for our wedding to be the summer of 2008 and then found out that Corey was deploying to Iraq. In 2007, we were married in court before he deployed and decided to start trying to have children until I was 40. We postponed our wedding ceremony to the summer of 2009 when he redeployed. Immediately after our wedding ceremony, we had a permanent change of station (PCS) to Ft. Leavenworth, KS and started seeing an infertility specialist. In 2011, we had a PCS to Ft. Bliss, TX and continued with an infertility specialist, where we had one miscarriage. In 2012, our oldest son started attending Hawaii Pacific University on Corey's G.I. Bill studying Psychology. During Corey's deployment to Afghanistan in 2013, we also had 2 failed IVF cycles. Additionally, during this time, our younger son was suffering from Major Depressive Disorder and has been hospitalized twice. Upon redeployment from Afghanistan, Corey and I had our chromosomes tested and we found out that Corey has balanced translocation, which is making pregnancy difficult for us. We have now been referred to a Doctor in Denver, CO for IVF with CCS (Comprehensive Chromosome Screening).

In February, our 15 year old niece, my sister's oldest daughter, came to live with us and we will soon adopt her. She is doing well in school with A's and B's. Our oldest son has transferred to the University of Hawaii and still continues with Psychology. Our youngest son, who has been through so much in the last year and a half with his Major Depressive Disorder, just graduated from high school on time and at Top 10%. He wants to pursue guitar, which has helped him get through the hard times. These are all great achievements as a father and Corey is very proud of our children, but nothing can replace the feeling of being called Daddy.

Being that I have turned 41 in April, this is our last attempt in trying to have a baby. We have maxed out most of our credit cards with the previous attempts and our goal is most of what it will cost for our final attempt. We are turning to you for assistance to add Baby Givens to our family and make it possible for Corey to be Daddy. Please share our story and thank you in advance.
