*Update: Thank you again to everyone who has donated!  With your amazingly generous support, we have raised over $11,000!  Unfortunately, our first attempt was not successful, as our one embryo did not survive.  Although this was devastating news, we are focusing on positive thoughts and are motivated to try again.  We are keeping the goal amount the same for now, until we have a more concrete understanding / plan of what is to come next.  Ideally, the next round will result in multiple embryos, so we will have multiple chances without having to start from scratch again.     
*In the meantime, Kirsten is continuing "Ficcardi Fives" at her place of work, selling 5-shaped sugar cookies for $5 each.  They have been a huge success, and have helped contribute over $3,500 to our campaign!

Dear family, friends, and supporters,      
     After thirteen happy years together, the time has finally come to expand our family, and we need your help!  At the age of seventeen, Kirsten was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure.  We are planning to become pregnant through IVF (in vitro fertilization) with Boston IVF.  Even with insurance coverage, our out-of-pocket cost with a known donor is estimated to be up to $18,000, while our out-of-pocket cost with an anonymous donor is estimated to be up to $30,000. It is extremely expensive due to the fact that Kirsten will be using a donor egg.
