Two days after their first Daughter Ellaniah turned 1, Niv and Sade Lemoine were pleasantly surprised to discover that they were pregnant with their second child! The satisfaction and bliss of being parents again was a privilege they were all too happy to embrace afresh.
The first few months were filled with excitement and anticipation as they awaited the 20 week mark to discover whether they would have another baby girl or welcome a baby boy into the family. On December 21st 2017 they had their 20 week ultrasound appointment where they were pleased to discover they would be welcoming another baby girl, however, to their surprise the ultrasound tech shared concern about some issues she noticed in the ultrasound, but wasn’t sure conclusively what it was. Their OBGYN got them set up for an emergency follow up ultrasound to get a better glimpse of what was going on.
On January 2nd 2018 at the follow up appointment is where they were informed that their daughter has a very serious and rare heart abnormality along with Heterotaxy Syndrome (when organs grow on the opposite side). The doctor was clear and blunt that this is a serious condition that could end in the death of the baby.
This diagnosis will, at best, require three open heart surgeries and at worst may require a heart transplant as well as some minor surgeries to address the organs.
Since the diagnosis Niv and Sade have embraced this difficulty with faith in Christ and have leaned into their friends and family in Christ Jesus, and have been blessed to receive such a resounding level of emotional and spiritual support and encouragement. In light of this circumstance, Niv and Sade felt it fitting to name their daughter, Faith. Niv and Sade are firm believers that all things, even the most difficult of circumstances, will be worked out sovereignly by their loving and powerful heavenly Father, for their good and for His Glory.
On a practical note, they could use some financial support in this season, as being self-employed and having self pay medical coverage has become a real financial burden for them. Since receiving the diagnosis they have been required to see a specialist several times a month and pay out of pocket for these services.
Additionally, Faith’s condition will require Niv and Sade to travel to Boston, from Lancaster PA, so that Faith can be operated on upon birth (May 2018) by some of the top Surgeon’s and doctors in the nation. This will require them to leave their home and plan to live in Boston for a minimum of two months. All of these plans require a great deal of finances, and any little bit of help you can offer will prove to be extremely helpful and beneficial to them!
