Quilt Giveaway for Baby Crivello

Donation protected

UPDATE:  This campaign began as a quilt giveaway (see original story below), and the winner of the quilt was chosen on April 10.  Congratulations, Lisa Milligan!

I am keeping the campaign open for anyone who would still like to contribute to the Crivello Family.  Andrew Michael was born on March 20 and has undergone several surgeries/procedures and is still very critically ill.  Please consider donating and all prayers for strength, courage, and healing are greatly appreciated.   Thank you.

BENEFIT: This giveaway is for my cousin, Kaitlyn, and her beautiful family.  She married Anthony in 2013 and their joyful son, Noah, is 20 months old.  He is such a cool kid who is always laughing and having fun!! Anthony is a police officer, and Kaitlyn recently received her Bachelor’s Degree and works with children with autism.
In August, they learned they were expecting another child, due in March.  As the pregnancy progressed, and the routine tests were run, it was revealed that the baby boy has a serious heart defect.  After a recent visit to the specialists, this was the update that Kaitlyn shared with us(January 23):

"Our little man, essentially has only half of a heart and no left chambers at all; and his oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is all mixed together (not good), in one big chamber. A typical heart has four chambers and they are only seeing two chambers or a common chamber (possible diagnosis); it's in these two chambers his blood is mixing. He also has a very small Aorta coming off of the heart (blood vessel pumping blood to body). Thanks to his mama, he is receiving all the nutrients and oxygen he needs to remain healthy but the fight begins once he is born.

Course of treatment:
I will have to relocate to L.A. at 38 weeks and be induced at 39. Our little man will have a great team present at birth to ensure he is stable and able to receive the oxygen needed to sustain life. He will undergo his first of three surgeries in the first week of life and we can potentially be home 1-2 weeks post surgery (depending on how he does in recovery). The purpose of the three surgeries is to ensure he has a functional heart in which his blood is no longer mixing and he is getting enough oxygen."

The amazing news is that in all other ways, Baby Crivello is growing strong and healthy, however, the long term prognosis regarding his heart health is unknown at this time.  The family is holding on to prayerful hope.

There are no words to describe the pain and challenges they face in the months and years to come.  Currently, there are multiple doctors’ appointments each week.  And as Kaitlyn said, she needs to live near the hospital in Los Angeles, eighty miles from their home, before birth, plus staying there while their son is undergoing surgeries and treatments.  Or, when necessary, traveling back and forth, and such.  Meanwhile, Anthony will need to work when possible, and they also have little Noah to take care.  I have no doubt all of you can imagine the impact on the family in all directions -- emotional, spiritual, financial.

Anthony and Kaitlyn are blessed to have a deep faith in God and an amazing support group of family and friends.  Prayers are said daily for Baby Crivello and all of them, but I have felt called to do something to help on a more practical level as well.

I hope you all will join in supporting Baby Crivello and his family.

God Bless,
Lorna
