Baby Camden's health care expenses

Camden Nathaniel Cocker is 25 months old…and here because of prayer.

Camden has kidney disease due to a bladder obstruction that was detected in utero. The obstruction caused urine to back up into his kidneys, severely compromising his bladder and kidney function, as well as the thickness of his heart walls. His left kidney lost function before birth and his right was at 50% at birth. His right continues to improve, and is at approximately 80% currently.

Camden underwent his first surgery at 1 ½ days old - a valve ablation. The surgery was successful, but because of the prior trauma to his bladder, the reflux continued to threaten his kidneys, prompting another surgery at 12 days old – a vesicostomy, in which his bladder lining was brought to the skin’s surface so it could empty. He spent 2 ½ weeks in the NICU at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa. Carrianne, Joel, his 4 year old brother Nolan, and 3 year old sister Mallory joyfully brought him home on 10/31/13.

At 4 months old, Camden got a urinary tract infection which hospitalized him for 5 days. He came out stronger than ever and continues to improve!

Camden is seen regularly by his pediatrician, and specialists in Pediatric Urology, Nephrology, and Cardiology at Duke Medicine. Carrianne & Joel (mommy and daddy) are confident that he is receiving the best and most innovative medical care and continue to pray for his healing daily.

We are all so grateful for this incredible miracle, and have put together this fundraiser to help Joel & Carrianne as they address the challenges of their costly financial obligations from Camden’s care and medications, as well as to provide them a cushion for upcoming care and procedures that lie ahead. Camden will have to have his vesicostomy reversed most likely in April of 2015, and may need to have his left kidney and ureter removed down the road as well.

If you feel lead to give, you can do so through this site. Thank you, and as always, please continue to pray for Camden, specifically for:

* His kidneys (right to improve, left to regain function), bladder, and ureters to heal 100%
* His heart wall to return to normal thickness (almost there already!)
* His blood pressure, sodium, creatinin, and potassium levels to reach and maintain normal ranges
* Keeping infection away, especially those in his urinary tract
