Cristen and Dylan Moll, newly married and starting their beautiful life together, recently found out they are pregnant! As to be expected, the couple along with their family and friends are over the moon about this news.
The Molls awoke on August 31st, eager about their OB appointment. It was the day they would find out whether their precious gift was a boy or a girl.
During the appointment, mom and dad to-be were given some amazing news- IT'S A GIRL!! But quickly their excitement turned to worry when they were told their sweet Norah Mae was being diagnosed just a few moments later with myelomeningocele spinda bifida.
For those who don't know, myelomeningocele spina bifida is a complication with a baby's spine/spinal cord. In utero, this baby's spinal canal does not close properly, resulting in complications with the nerves in the spine being exposed. As you can imagine, this is a severe issue that needs special medical attention and lots of preparation and learning for both parents, family and friends. Unforunately until a baby with spina bifida is born, we do not know how severe his/her complications as far as mobility, fluid in the brain, heart defects and need for immediate or future surgeries will be.
The Molls are going above and beyond to ensure they are mentally, emotionally and financially prepared for Miss Norah. They are going to be the absolute BEST parents and God truly chose them for this baby girl.
With that being said, this young couple could use ALL of the support we could possibly give. Prenantal testing, specialty doctors such as neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, OB specialists, physical therapy, special equipment, travel- these things are all to be anticipated and can of course be extremely costly.
PLEASE consider donating anything you possibly can to this sweet couple and baby Norah and after if possible, please consider donating to The Spina Bifida Association and let's do our part in helping research this disease.
