Baby Violet’s Road to Recovery

Violet is my granddaughter and she is a happy, cheerful baby girl who brings a smile to the face of everyone she meets – which is no surprise since her parents, Brittany and Erik, are such wonderful loving and caring people. This past January, Violet took a little fall onto a toy – no different than any other toddler does a million times a day – but it left an unusual hard bruise on her tiny behind. Mom and dad took quick action and sought medical attention right away.
Violet’s symptoms worsened, though, so tests and medical treatments continued. By the beginning of February, she was only comfortable in two positions – neither of which were sitting or standing. Thank goodness the medical team in Windsor worked quickly to schedule a consultation at the Children’s Hospital in London (where Violet was admitted and has been for the past week), and we’ve now learned that she has a massive and very aggressive tumour that has invaded her pelvis.
There is a solid action plan in place with the oncologist, and over the next few days Violet will start chemo. The doctors anticipate the tumour will melt like butter! We are all staying positive about the road ahead, but over the next several months, Brittany and Erik will have to manage time away from their full-time jobs for their travels between Windsor and London for chemo treatments, and caring for Violet while she’s on her road to recovery.
This GoFundMe page is not being created to generate a profit, but only so Brittany any Erik are able to make ends meet and not fall behind while they’re caring for their (our) baby girl and unable to work. If extra money is raised, it will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario – which has allowed them to stay by Violet’s side throughout her time at the Children’s Hospital.
