Baby Sullivan IVF Fund

Our fertility journey began 7 years ago. I’ve been diagnosed with endometriosis since I was 15, and in my early 20’s it got worse. I have had 2 surgeries, one of which included a tubal ligation and now my other Fallopian tube is clubbed. IVF is our only choice at this point and it’s been such an expensive, impossible feeling option. I’ll be honest, I’ve been a mix of jealous, bitter and happy for those that can get pregnant a month after their birth control comes out. It took a while, but the moment that I realized I had completely come to terms with our situation was in 2017 when my best friend sent me photos of her positive pregnancy test. Instead of the familiar bitterness, I was overcome with the utmost joy. I had the privilege of being with her the entirety of her pregnancy, for the birth of her daughter and every milestone that has come since. The love and adoration that David and I have for that tiny human caught us off guard. She is such a smart, loving and funny little girl who has helped us realize that there is no “right way” to do this. She also helped us realize that matter the method, no matter what we go through, regardless of where our son or daughter comes from we WILL be parents. I’d like to think we already are. I’ve written letters in journals, and I want to share one that is close to my heart.

For seven years we’ve dreamt of you. I’ve had vivid dreams where I’ve met you, smelled you, felt what it was like to hold you and hear your laugh only to wake up with the crashing realization that it was just a dream. I’ve stormed around, broken down, cried and begged for you. We know that you’re coming to us as fast as you can. We know that you’re not taking your time; that your journey has just a few more twists and turns than that of others. Everyone is so ready to meet you! Grammy Lori-Ann and Papa Steve are so excited to show you off to all of the animals on the farm, and how to round up the chickens and ducks. Nana Jeri is ready to teach you to ride horses, while Papa Steve can take you on drives through the prettiest parts of our home. Aunt Tiffy talks of you often and can’t wait for you to meet Harlee and Eli. She is so excited to throw your baby shower and for all of the spoiling that aunties get to do.
Dad and I are so excited to give you all of the things that we have dreamt for you. Even if your eyes and heritage are different than ours, even if IVF isn’t your way to us we are ready for all of the birthdays, hikes, knee scrapes, bike rides, trips to see Santa, BBQ’s with dad and every milestone that is ahead of you. We have prayed for so much for you: for a safe journey, for your health and future happiness. We pray that we will find each other soon. Until then, we will continue to wait patiently.
