<div>My name is Deanna Lyon. On June 28, we were blessed with the birth of our fourth grandchild, Sloane. Her parents, Anna and Nick, were over the moon. Two weeks later, <strong>Sloane was diagnosed with cancer.</strong>

<div>Neuroblastoma affects approximately 800 people a year, mostly children below 18 months of age, but teens and young adults have also been diagnosed.

<div>Hearing this news is gut-wrenching. Not knowing what Sloane’s outcome would be was unnerving.

</div>

</div>

<div>Sloane underwent a round of chemotherapy. Meanwhile, her parents were spending their lives now living in the hospital. Sloane was intubated and fed through a tube. She was also in a continual state of sedation.

</div>

</div>

<div>Sloane came through chemotherapy and was sent home with her feeding tube and awaited follow-up visits to see how effective the chemotherapy was. Very happily, they found out that the tumor on her liver was gone and the tumor on her kidney had shrunk significantly.

</div>

<div>On September 3, Sloane had surgery to remove the remainder of her kidney tumor and half of an adrenal gland. She is now home recovering well, no feeding tube, and full of smiles.

</div>

<div>We now await the biopsy results and pray that all will be well.

</div>

<div>In the meantime, as you can imagine, <strong>medical bills are piling up and in the middle of it, her insurance started a new year, meaning new deductibles.</strong>
