Baby Paisley’s Preemie Fund

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Michelle and I am starting this page to raise money for sweet baby Paisley Jo-Marie. My niece was born March 19 at just 26 weeks, 3 days. She weighed just 1 pound, 6 ounces and was a tiny 11 ¾ inches long, about the size of a large mango!

Back story
Paisley’s parents, Steven and Alana, were married in 2015 and have been raising a beautiful blended family. In October, they were ecstatic to learn that their family would soon be gaining another member, as Alana was pregnant with her first child.

In March, Alana began to have sharp stomach pains and was admitted to the hospital with preecampsia. Her doctors were worried about not only baby Paisley, but her as well, as her blood pressure was dangerously high. As they gained control of Alana’s blood pressure, relief set in and plans for her discharge had begun.

Unfortunately, baby Paisley had started showing signs of stress. An ultrasound of Paisley gave more cause for concern, as it looked like she had at least one clubfoot, possibly two. In addition, a bright spot was seen on her heart, which indicated a possibility of a chromosomal abnormality. It also appeared that her growth was slowing, when compared with previous ultrasounds. Ultimately, it was decided that an emergency C-section was the safest option for baby Paisley and Alana.

Since Paisley’s birth
Although cautious, Steven and Alana are celebrating Paisley and every day they have with her. They’ve nicknamed her Pocket and she has done amazingly well. Her birth weight was more than they had expected it to be and she has no signs of clubfoot. She’s had her first of many transfusions, and had no complications.

The Road Ahead
Being a preemie, Paisley will be in the NICU until her due date in June. We won’t know the full extent of any chromosomal abnormalities until later but we do know she has a long road ahead, which will include more transfusions, more tests, and more medicines. I have no doubt she will pull through and fight until she’s home!

For Steven and Alana, the day is fast approaching when they will have to leave their Pocket, and return home to their daily lives, which will now include many trips to the NICU. Alana is unable to work while recuperating and living off one income will be trying. Steven is used to working many hours overtime and will need to cut back in order to help Alana and their other 2 children, while visiting Paisley.

How You Can Help
The costs associated with a premature infant can be overwhelming. My hope is that Steven and Alana can rest easier with some financial help and focus on what’s important…being with their family. If you can donate, any amount is appreciated, as everything adds up. If you are unable to donate, please share the link to your Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter and spread the word!

Your donations, as well as thoughts, prayers and encouraging words will be so appreciated by not only myself, but my brother and sister-in-law as well!
