Baby Nora in the NICU

Rebecca, Becca, Smith and Justin Lambert are first-time parents who just a week ago were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their little girl. The pregnancy had gone without complications. The baby showers were held and were wonderful. Their daughter's room was ready and waiting for her. Their entire extended family was waiting on pins and needles.

On the morning of February 16 Rebecca had a prenatal checkup. Her doctors discovered that her blood pressure was too high and diagnosed Becca with preeclampsia. Rebecca and Justin went immediately from that appointment to the hospital and were admitted to the birthing center. A decision was made to induce Rebecca’s labor.

As the day progressed into evening, the feelings of excitement were replaced with anxiety. Rebecca and Justin were scared. Nora's vital signs indicated the need for an emergent C-section. Nora Amsley Lambert was born shortly after 2 AM on February 17.

Shortly after Nora’s birth, the physicians decided she needed to be moved by ambulance to the NICU at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Nora had suffered birth trauma and needed the specialized care of pediatricians in the NICU.

Becca could not travel with her daughter at first and had to stay behind and rely on text pictures and calls from Justin. Nora has undergone many tests and there are concerns about her future. At this time it is unknown when Nora will be able to come home with her parents or what her future may hold.

Due to this unexpected turn of events, Justin and Becca will be spending a great deal of time with Nora in Rochester. Obviously, this has created a hardship for this young family. Justin works as an apprentice electrician and Becca is a convenience store clerk. Justin had to use all of his vacation to supplement his income this past winter when work was slow. His time off now is without pay. This young couple has so much on their minds. Their only worry should be making sure their little girl does well and can come home soon. Extra funds for their expenses for accommodations, gas and meals while in Rochester would be very much appreciated.

Please keep Nora, Becca and Justin in your prayers.
God's peace, Kim Williams, Justin’s aunt.
