Dear Family and Friends,
I just would like to thank you all for praying for our daughter Maya. As many of you know she was born on July 12th. I was in the labor room with my wife during labor. I watched Maya being born. When she was born she looked purplish. The medical staff tried to make her cry, she did after 8 minutes. We thought everything will be okay but after she got weighed she stopped breathing. I stood aside to let the doctors do their job. She was in code blue. I watched everyone rushing to help but they were calm.
They also took my wife to the recovery room. I stood on the side to see the swarm of doctors and nurses doing what they can to revive her. I could not just stand and watch so I walked to the delivery room and prayed with my wife for her healing and also for Maya to come back to life. As I was walking out to the recovery room a nurse came to me and told me that they will bring my baby to the NICU and just wait and I walked with them as they brought Maya to the NICU. Well, that was a relief on my part to hear that they are bringing her to the NICU. When we got there I saw Maya breathing and her color is changing, from being purplish. Throughout the day she is able to breathe but being assisted with a ventilator for 3 days.
She is being seen by 5 different specialists. After the ultrasound and CT scan they diagnosed her with hemangioma. The 9.3 cm hemangioma is in her liver and her diaphragm is being pushed that’s why she had a hard time breathing and eating.
They put her on medication that is supposed to make the tumor smaller and it did, it is now to 8.6 cm. The doctors will soon decide if she will have to go through surgery. The surgeon explained to us how risky it will be because Maya will lose a lot of blood.
As far as everything is concerned Maya is healthy and able to eat 3.5 ml every hour. That is why the doctor also said it is actually better to do the surgery now than to keep waiting to prevent possible complications in the future, unless they see a significant change baby Maya will not have to go through surgery.
While she was still in the tummy we did all the congenital tests and she passed them all. Our doctor did not see anything. So we were expecting things will be normal. I prepared enough to cover all the costs. However, we did not know about the hemangioma and what all this will cost. I am humbly asking if you can help us financially, any amount will be a great help. Thank you very much for your love and prayers for our dear Maya and our family.
