Family and Friends!
We are excited to add another member of the Rice family, Mack Thomas Rice! Mack arrived via an emergency c-section on March 13, 2018; he was born 2 months before his due date weighing 1 pound and 9 ounces.
Everyone is filled with joy upon his arrival but the Rice’s have a long road ahead with lots of ups and downs. Due to Mack’s premature birth he has been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Northwest Community Hospital. Recently, we have found out his little heart has some congenital heart defects that need to be surgically repaired. He has a hole in his Aorta and has been diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a hole in the wall of the atria. He also has a Ventricle Septal Defect (VSD) a hole in the wall of the ventricles. Unfortunately, he will need open heart surgery when his weight increases to 3-4 pounds.
The expenses have been immense and will continue to grow as Mack’s NICU stay, lost wages, surgery, and other additional expenses continue over the coming weeks and months.
Mack is doing well and your prayers and well wishes are still needed for his strength and health as he continues to grow. Every contribution is greatly appreciated and we thank you very much for all of the love and support!
